What To Buy in Singapore? Merlion?

Visitors coming to Singapore has asked me what to buy when they come and visit. Usually they will want to buy something for themselves or for their families or friends.

They will want to buy something different, something they cannot get back home. Singapore do not have much locally made handicrafts. Unless you call the Merlion merchandise local handicrafts, even that some of them are not made in Singapore!

So what do I recommend visitors to buy? Food of course! Those pre-mix ingredients that be found in supermarkets. Uniquely made in Singapore. Things and gifts that the them and the people back home can taste and smell.

Singapore - Dili Flight

I always wanted to go to Timor Leste. I was quite fascinated by the country. It is small and a rising country just like Singapore just after its independence. The difference will be probably it has a lot more natural resources than Singapore has.

The situation there is improving a lot and it will keep on improving. Many Singaporeans have set-up businesses there.

I have been checking on the list of available flights to go there. Maybe I try to organise a holiday there sometime next year. Well next year will be next week!

the mr brown show - singapore

the mr brown show is a uniquely singaporean website. Visit the site here. it has brought laughters to ordinary Singaporeans both in Singapore and abroad. I remembered tuning in to the podcasts and visited the website everyday to look out for the latest updates when I was in Australia. It brought the feeling of home.

It hits the heart of us Singaporeans as the issues covered are something we can relate to and something that we faced everyday. They put in such a way that although the issues are true and sometimes serious, there is a humour side to it. And that is very comforting.
